About Us
Craftsmanship since 1966
Terry Dolan started building frames in 1977 at Harry Quinn's bike shop in Walton Liverpool. But the story really began in 1966 when Terry first walked into Harry Quinn's shop and order his first frame. He was 15 then, and the frame cost £17. Over the next 10 years, Terry would be given various tasks to do which were never too difficult to master as he did similar work every day. Terry raced a lot with the local riders, many of whom became national and world champions; all of them riding on frames built-in Harry's workshop in Walton, Liverpool.
Terry had always had the desire, right from the first time he was in the shop that he could do this job. So when he eventually went to work full time in Harry Quinn's workshop, he put all the skills he had learned in the shipyards to good use. Combined with the 10 years of watching Harry do everything possible with bike frames, from repairing them to building them for the British team to the novice rider as Terry was ten years before. It took a while to adapt to Harry's exacting standards but eventually, he got there and in 1980 when Harry Quinn closed, Terry opened his own shop, building frames above just as he had done at Harry’s. By now as well, Terry has also registered the brand ‘Cougar Cycles’ and almost immediately the steady stream of top-class riders came straight to Terry.
