Campagnolo's updated 11speed alloy Centaur drivetrain bears a resemblance to Super Record, albeit it is heavier than Campagnolo's top of the line model. Centaur chainset is the lightest in its class, with a four-arm spider featuring independent BCDs - different bolt circles - for each chain ring, which increases their rigidity.
Available in 50/34 and 52/36 combinations because Campagnolo intend their new Centaur groupset for all-day riding and endurance climbing events rather than out and out racing.
The new crankset adopts Campagnolo’s Ultra Torque BB-axle system. UltraTorque (UT) consists of two 25mm half axles on each crank arm which mate in the middle using a Hirth joint. The bottom bracket bearings are pressed onto the axles, which means Ultra-Torque’s BB cups are just that: cups only. UT allows for low profile crank arms (greater ankle clearance, and narrow Q-factor) while still positioning the bearings as far outboard as possible, which improves rigidity.
