Traditionally, a road bike will have drop handlebars which allow the rider to position themselves lower and be more streamlined with the bike itself, providing a more aerodynamic performance on the road. Road bikes also come with unique narrow and high-pressure tyres that allow for a slick tread which reduces rolling resistance and provides a better grip for the rider.

What other frame materials do you stock?
At Dolan Bikes, we also offer Titanium and Aluminium road bikes. Both materials are great for durability, prices start at just £1,149.98.
What size road bike do I need?
The perfect sized bike for you can depend on the bike model, your height, weight and other contributing factors. At Dolan Bikes, each bike comes with a sizing guide for you to use.
What is a good average speed on a road bike?
Road bikes tend to have an average speed of between 14 and 18mph.
How to change gear on a road bike?
When it comes to our road bikes, changing gears can be relatively straightforward thanks to an integrated gear change unit. Depending on the design of your bike, there may be variations in design, however, with most designs all you need to do is push the lever sideways until you hear the click.

Road Race Bikes

These bikes come with the popular disc brake, which makes them easier to manoeuvre on the roads thanks to their powerful braking power.

HOW MUCH ARE ROAD BIKES
How much you spend on a road bike will depend on the type of bike you want, the materials used in its construction, and any additional add-on costs. A quality carbon road bike can cost upwards of £2,200 (or even £7,000 for some of our top of the range models with all extras added) whereas a titanium bike will cost around £2,000+.
This can change if you’re looking at entry-level models. Aluminium road bikes can cost around £1,000 while carbon-built entry-level bikes start from £1,400.
